Powdered sugar 5 cups (600 g)
Milk 5 tbsp

Ingredient Details

Cooking Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325˚F (160˚C). Grease and line three 8-inch (20 cm) cake tins with parchment paper.
  2. Sift together flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
  3. In a measuring cup, mix stout, vanilla, and espresso powder. Set aside.
  4. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 5 minutes). Add eggs one at a time, then the mayonnaise.
  5. Alternately add dry and wet ingredients to the batter, starting and ending with dry.
  6. Fold in chopped dark chocolate.
  7. Divide batter evenly between cake tins and bake for 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let cool in tins for 10–15 minutes, then remove and cool completely on a rack.
  9. For buttercream, beat butter and vanilla, then gradually add cocoa, sugar, and milk until fluffy.
  10. Frost and decorate as desired. Slice and serve!
